Emu Point shipwrights use traditional methods to restore and rebuild wooden sailing boats. Raw material is shaped by hand, drawing upon centuries old techniques.
The 40 tonne hoist boat lifter and associated equipment is operated by an experienced in-house team that ensures that we are able to handle a wide range of vessels professionally and safely.

Darren Russell, the shipwright and lifter operator, is a wooden boat enthusiast who is preparing his yacht 'Baudin to sail to the Mediterranean and through the European canals. He will provide contacts for mechanical services in town and despite his very busy yard, is a generous source of information.

Emu Point Slipway, Oyster Harbour, Albany WA Darren and Linda offer a terrific slipping service using a 40 tonne travel hoist located in the most secure anchorage on Australia’s SW coast, as well as comprehensive repairs to vessels of all materials. Wooden vessels are well looked after by Darren, a journeyman shipwright.
